2027 Ram 1500: What’s New, What’s Changing, and What Stays the Same
DeKalb County drivers split their time between farm roads, long commutes, and weekend trailer runs, and a pickup has to handle all three.
The 2027 Ram 1500 keeps the truck you know and builds a muscle-truck family around it. The Rumble Bee joins the lineup, the TRX SRT returns with 777 horsepower, and the 5.7L HEMI V8 gives up its eTorque mild-hybrid system early in the model year. Prices on the core trims rose by $200 to $1,200, depending on trim. Ram did not redesign the truck for 2027, so your decision comes down to engine, trim, and a handful of new features (all covered below).
2027 Ram 1500 Changes vs. 2026
The biggest additions sit at the top of the lineup. Ram added the Rumble Bee, a family of four street-focused muscle trucks, and brought back the TRX SRT with a supercharged 6.2L HEMI V8 rated at 777 horsepower and 680 lb-ft of torque.
Everyday trims picked up equipment too. The Laramie now comes standard with rain-sensing windshield wipers. A 360-degree surround view camera is standard on the Limited, Longhorn, RHO, and TRX SRT, and available on the Laramie and Rebel through their Level 1 equipment groups. Big Horn and Lone Star crew cabs can now add passive entry (no more digging for the key fob) through the Level 2 equipment group. The Limited and Longhorn offer a RamBox delete option for buyers who want maximum bed width, and the RHO gets a reworked tailgate badge with a rhino-head design. The RHO also gains a new Popular Equipment Group that bundles the 14.5-inch Uconnect touchscreen with 19-speaker Harman Kardon audio (late availability).
Color choices shifted. Goldilocks is a new color planned for late availability, Flame Red returns, Hydro Blue becomes available on more trims, and Tank expands to trucks with the Night Edition package. Ram’s 2027 materials also list a new onboard power system for late availability, rated up to 2.0 kilowatts on Pentastar trucks and 1.7 kilowatts on Hurricane and HEMI trucks.
The 5.7L HEMI Loses eTorque
Ram has said it will phase out eTorque on the 5.7L HEMI V8 early in the 2027 model year and replace it with a non-hybrid version of the same engine. A limited number of early-build trucks carry eTorque, and the non-hybrid HEMI does not have automatic stop-start (the 3.0L Hurricane and 3.6L Pentastar keep it). Ram publishes the same 395 horsepower and 410 lb-ft for the 5.7L HEMI either way. There is no official switch-over date, so the window sticker is the final word on which version a specific truck has. Ask us and we will check.
What Stayed the Same
Ram did not redesign the truck for 2027. The 8-speed automatic carries over behind every engine, as do the 3.6L Pentastar V6 (305 horsepower) and both 3.0L Hurricane inline-six engines (420 and 540 horsepower). Inside, the available 14.5-inch Uconnect touchscreen, 10.25-inch passenger display, and Hands-Free Active Driving Assist remain on the options list (availability varies by trim).
2027 Ram 1500 Price by Trim
The 2027 Ram 1500 starts at $45,170 for the Tradesman and climbs through the Big Horn and Lone Star ($50,425), Laramie ($64,475), Rebel ($68,440), RHO ($77,790), and Limited ($79,400) to $91,795 for the Tungsten. Most trims rose $200 to $350 over 2026; the RHO rose $1,200. The new Rumble Bee starts at $62,790, and the TRX SRT starts at $102,790. All prices include the $2,795 destination charge and exclude taxes, title, registration, options, and dealer fees.
2027 Ram 1500 Engines: HEMI or Hurricane?
Ram offers seven engine configurations in 2027, and all of them pair with an 8-speed automatic. The 3.6L Pentastar V6 with eTorque makes 305 horsepower and 269 lb-ft of torque. The 3.0L Hurricane twin-turbo inline-six comes in two strengths: Standard Output at 420 horsepower and 469 lb-ft, and High Output at 540 horsepower and 521 lb-ft. The 5.7L HEMI V8 makes 395 horsepower and 410 lb-ft. The performance trucks go further, with the 6.4L HEMI V8 in the Rumble Bee 392 models making 470 horsepower and the supercharged 6.2L HEMI V8 in the TRX SRT and Rumble Bee SRT making 777 horsepower and 680 lb-ft.
The choice between the two main engines splits two ways. The Hurricane delivers more torque and better fuel economy in Ram's ratings; the 4x2 Standard Output is rated for up to 11,530 lbs of towing and 18/25 mpg. The 5.7L HEMI brings the V8 sound and is rated for up to 11,470 lbs (4x2) at 15/23 mpg. The High Output Hurricane is offered on the Limited, Longhorn, RHO, and Tungsten.
Towing, Payload, and MPG
Ram's numbers below are maximum ratings when properly equipped, with fuel economy given as Ram's estimated city/highway mpg. The 3.6L Pentastar V6 tows up to 8,100 lbs with a 2,340-lb payload at 20/25 mpg in 4x2, and up to 7,460 lbs with a 1,770-lb payload at 19/24 mpg in 4x4. The Hurricane Standard Output leads the lineup: 4x2 trucks are rated for up to 11,530 lbs of towing, 1,870 lbs of payload, and 18/25 mpg, while 4x4 trucks are rated for 11,370 lbs, 1,880 lbs, and 17/24 mpg. The High Output Hurricane (4x4) is rated for up to 9,480 lbs of towing, 1,530 lbs of payload, and 15/20 mpg. The 5.7L HEMI V8 tows up to 11,470 lbs in 4x2 and 11,190 lbs in 4x4, with payloads of 1,760 and 1,720 lbs and fuel economy of 15/23 and 15/22 mpg.
Ratings vary by cab, bed, axle ratio, and equipment, and a specific truck's numbers appear on its door sticker.
Ram 1500 Rumble Bee: The New Muscle Truck
The Rumble Bee is a Quad Cab with a 5-foot 7-inch bed and a widebody stance, offered in four versions. The base Rumble Bee uses the 5.7L HEMI V8 (395 horsepower) and starts at $62,790. The Rumble Bee 392 steps up to the 6.4L HEMI V8 (470 horsepower) for $72,790, and the 392 Track Pack, at $82,790, keeps that engine and adds aerodynamic, handling, and braking upgrades. At the top, the Rumble Bee SRT uses the supercharged 6.2L HEMI V8 (777 horsepower and 680 lb-ft) and starts at $97,790.
Prices include destination. Ram's claimed 0–60 mph times run from 6.1 seconds for the 5.7L to 3.4 seconds for the SRT. The base Rumble Bee is listed for late-2026 availability, and early reports place the 392, Track Pack, and SRT in the first half of 2027.
Ram 1500 TRX SRT and RHO: The Off-Road Pair
The TRX SRT is the headline. Its supercharged 6.2L HEMI V8 makes 777 horsepower and 680 lb-ft of torque, Ram claims a 0–60 mph time of 3.5 seconds, and orders are open at $99,995 plus $2,795 destination ($102,790 total). The RHO is the more attainable off-road option. It uses the 540-horsepower High Output Hurricane, starts at $77,790 with destination, and now includes standard surround view.
Ram 1500 Warranty
Every new Ram 1500 carries a 3-year/36,000-mile limited warranty. Ram also advertises a 10-year/100,000-mile limited powertrain warranty for original owners.
When Is the 2027 Ram 1500 Available?
Core 2027 Ram 1500 trims are arriving at dealerships now. Ram lists late-2026 availability (projected, depending on model) for the base Rumble Bee and the TRX SRT.
How the 2027 Ram 1500 Compares
The full-size truck field is moving this year. The 2027 Ford F-150 makes a twin-turbo 3.0L V6 standard and adds BlueCruise hands-free driving while towing, and the 2027 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 and GMC Sierra 1500 arrive redesigned with new V8 engines. The Ram 1500 answers with the widest engine choice in the class (three six-cylinder and four V8 configurations) and the 777-horsepower TRX SRT.
