2027 Jeep Grand Cherokee L: What Changed, What Stayed, and What to Know

DeKalb County families who need room for seven now have a three-row Grand Cherokee L lineup with six trims to choose from.

The 2027 Jeep Grand Cherokee L is the three-row version of Jeep's best-selling SUV, with seating for up to seven, a longer body, and the same 2027 updates as the two-row Grand Cherokee. (The prices and details below reflect what Jeep had published as of mid-October 2026; ask us to confirm the sticker on any specific Grand Cherokee L.) Here is how the L differs, what changed for 2027, and what each trim costs.

How the Grand Cherokee L Differs From the Two-Row Model

The Grand Cherokee L adds a third row and a longer body to the Grand Cherokee formula. Jeep lists seating for up to seven passengers, and the L measures 204.9 inches long in the Summit trim. The second row offers individual captain's chairs with available Quad-Zone automatic temperature control, and the second-row seats fold down and slide forward for easier entry to the third row.

Family features are a big part of the L's appeal. An available interior FamCam lets the driver watch the second and third rows on the Uconnect 5 touchscreen, an available power-folding third-row bench makes it easier to reconfigure the cargo area, and every row gets two USB-A and USB-C ports. Jeep lists a maximum towing capacity of 6,200 lbs for the 2027 Grand Cherokee, and the fuel tank holds 23 gallons of regular unleaded.

Third-Row Room and Cargo Space

With all three rows up, the Grand Cherokee L has 17.2 cubic feet of cargo room behind the third row. Fold the third row and that grows to 46.9 cubic feet with room for up to five passengers, and folding the second and third rows opens up to 84.6 cubic feet. Third-row legroom measures about 30.3 inches and headroom about 37.3 inches, which suits kids, teens, and adults on shorter trips. Second-row captain's chairs make it a six-seater, and the available second-row bench makes it a seven-seater.

2027 Jeep Grand Cherokee L Changes vs. 2026

The L carries the same 2027 updates as the two-row Grand Cherokee. The 4xe plug-in hybrid is gone, so every 2027 Grand Cherokee L uses a gas engine. The Laredo and Laredo X now come with a 10.1-inch Uconnect touchscreen and a new 18-inch wheel design, the Limited adds a new 20-inch wheel design, a wireless charging pad, and rain-sensing wipers, and the Limited Reserve adds automatic power-folding mirrors.

Jeep's website currently lists the Grand Cherokee L in six trims: the Laredo, Laredo X, Laredo Altitude, Limited, Limited Reserve, and Summit. The off-road Trailhawk is offered only in two rows, so it is not part of the L lineup.

What Stayed the Same

Jeep did not redesign the Grand Cherokee L for 2027. It keeps the styling refresh from 2026, its three-row layout, and the same two gas engines: a 3.6L Pentastar V6 listed at 293 horsepower and a 2.0L Hurricane 4 turbo listed at 324 horsepower.

2027 Jeep Grand Cherokee L Price

Prices below are Jeep's starting MSRPs for the three-row Grand Cherokee L as listed on Jeep's website in mid-October 2026, before the destination charge, taxes, and fees. With two-wheel drive, the Laredo starts at $41,730, the Laredo X at $44,225, the Laredo Altitude at $47,170, and the Limited at $47,130. Four-wheel drive adds $2,000 to each of those four trims. The Limited Reserve starts at $54,725 and the Summit at $63,130, and both come only with four-wheel drive. The third row adds $2,000 to each trim's starting price compared with the two-row Grand Cherokee. Starting prices do not include options, so many vehicles on our lots cost more.

Engines and Fuel Economy

The 3.6L Pentastar V6 is standard on the Laredo and Laredo X, and the 2.0L Hurricane 4 turbo is standard on the Laredo Altitude and every trim above it. Cars.com lists the two-wheel-drive Laredo L at 21 mpg combined, and the Laredo Altitude L at 23 mpg combined with two-wheel drive and 22 mpg combined with four-wheel drive. Check the window sticker for other trims, since ratings vary by engine and drivetrain.

2027 Jeep Grand Cherokee L Trims

The Laredo is the entry point, with the V6 and the new 10.1-inch touchscreen. The Laredo X steps up the styling with the same engine, and the Laredo Altitude is where the turbo four becomes standard.

The Limited moves into a more upscale cabin with the new 20-inch wheels, a wireless charging pad, and rain-sensing wipers. The Limited Reserve adds automatic power-folding mirrors, and the Summit tops the lineup for technology and audio. Both come only with four-wheel drive.

Which Grand Cherokee L Trim Is Right for You?

Start with the Laredo if you want the V6 and a three-row layout at the lowest starting price, and move to the Laredo Altitude for the 2.0L Hurricane 4 turbo. Choose the Limited for a more upscale cabin, and the Limited Reserve or Summit if you want four-wheel drive as standard with the most features.

Grand Cherokee L or Two-Row Grand Cherokee?

Choose the L if you regularly carry more than five people, want cargo flexibility with a third row, or want the family features above. Choose the two-row Grand Cherokee if you want the Trailhawk or rarely use a third row. The L costs $2,000 more than the matching two-row trim, and the two share their engines and most of their 2027 updates.
